Welcome to the the Chair Group Biosystematics of Wageningen University.

Research in the Biosystematics Group is focussed on the origin and maintenance of plant and insect biodiversity, above and below species level.

We investigate speciation, domestication and plant-animal interactions, and use phylogenetic patterns to test hypotheses on the underlying processes. The group possesses first-class strength in the inference and interpretation of phylogeny.

We contribute to the Wageningen University BSc and MSc study programmes Biology, Forest and Nature Conservation and Plant Sciences, offering courses in plant and animal systematics. We also offer a phylogeny course for PhD students (within the PhD teaching programme of the Graduate School Experimental Plant Sciences).

MSc Projects

For my MSc thesis, I wanted to experience scientific research into the mechanisms of evolution, preferably including field work in some fun and far-away place.
