Carreer summary

1981 - 1984          PhD at Plant Systematics, Wageningen University, project on the pollen morphology of the genus Begonia in Africa
1986 – 1997         junior staff member at Plant Systematics, with a focus on the taxonomy of cultivated plants.
1997 – 2001         acting head of  the department
2001 –  present    senior staff member.                                                 
                                                 



Research
My research interest focusses on the domestication process and the
taxonomy of cultivated plants. Projects were conducted on
(wild relatives of) crops in Beta, Lolium, Lactuca and Solanum.
In the latter project my main research topic developed: the taxonomy
of the wild relatives of the cultivated potato, with collaboration with the
CGN (Dutch genenbank) and the group of dr. D. M. Spooner,
University of Wisconsin.
